THR started out as a small 10 acre ranch established in 2015 by Brock and Michelle Turner. The ranch was located an hour north of New Orleans in the beautiful rolling countryside of Louisiana.

We purchased the house and property, which had been vacant for over a year, in the spring of 2015. Everything was very overgrown and only 5 of the 10 acres had been cleared.  We spent 2 years working diligently on clean up, clearing the other 5 acres and removing all the old barbed wire fencing throughout the property. It was hard work but with a little dirt in sweat (well a lot of sweat in the heat of Louisiana!) we created a little piece of heaven in the country!

After being out of the horse industry for about 6 years we were looking to get back in and we knew we wanted to start with a gentle breed. We had been looking into the Gypsy Vanners and happened to stumble across the Drum Horse online. We researched the Drum Horse, discovered it was a larger, heavy riding horse with Gypsy breeding similar characteristics and we instantly fell in love. We found our first Drum mare, drove to Texas to pick her up and came back with two! The Drum Horse community has been very welcoming, very helpful and we are proud to be a part of establishing the Drum as a breed instead of a type. ... See our Drum Horse page to learn more about the Drum Horse!

In 2016 we added a beautiful Appaloosa filly to our ranch! I'm Goin Country was the 2016 filly being raffled off by the Appaloosa Horse Museum. We bought tickets and they drew our name! We could not believe it! We shipped her from Idaho to our ranch in Louisiana and she is a wonderful addition to our herd. You can check her out on her page under Our Horses and you can also see the history of The Appaloosa Horse by visiting the link on our page.

In late 2016 Moon completed her basic training in ground work, ground driving and had several rides on her. She was sold and found a wonderful home in New York! We get regular updates and she is doing great!

In 2017 Brock accepted a new position and before we knew it, we were relocating to Alaska! We unfortunately could only take one horse with us at the time and had to reluctantly put our other Drum, Sable, up for sale. She found a wonderful home on a little ranch in Massachusetts were she is spoiled and loved by 2 little girls! We also get regular updates on her and she is loving her new home.

We are settling in well in Alaska and Country is adjusting very well to the climate. (She was born in North Dakota so luckily she has been in winter before!) Country has made great progress on her ground training and will be 3 this coming March. We are excited to start working on training her for riding and hitting the mountain trails and galloping on the beach!

We are settling in well too and we are enjoying all of the outdoor activities. We can't wait for all the new adventures to come!
